Biography

Tim Plumb is Chief Executive Officer of PolyMAT, a cross-phase academy trust based in Greenwich, where he has led the organisation since 2019 through a period of strategic growth and development. Under his leadership, the Trust has expanded to three schools, with a fourth in the transfer process, and has strengthened its capacity to deliver high-quality education across phases. Tim brings extensive experience in leading organisations at scale, particularly through change, with expertise spanning standards improvement, financial management, governance, compliance, and stakeholder engagement.

Beyond his role at PolyMAT, Tim is a well-connected sector leader who actively fosters collaboration across trusts and networks. He is a founding member of the London Trust Leaders Network, which brings trust leaders together with the Department for Education, and has served on the board of MATA, contributing to national conversations through conference presentations. His previous work with PiXL and current role as Chair of the Greenwich Schools Forum reflect his commitment to system-wide improvement and financial stewardship. Tim is known for his ability to unite people and ideas for collective benefit, and for his strategic insight into the evolving education landscape.

Why have I joined nEdEx?

Tim Plumb has joined the nEdEx advisory board to help shape a network that brings trust leaders together around bold ideas, shared challenges, and sector-wide solutions. With deep experience in leading a growing cross-phase trust and building collaborative networks, Tim sees nEdEx as a space to connect strategic thinking with practical leadership. He is particularly interested in how the network can support leaders navigating change, scaling impact, and strengthening partnerships across the system.

Tim brings a strong belief in the power of peer collaboration and mutual learning. His work with the London Trust Leaders Network and Greenwich Schools Forum has shown how collective dialogue can influence policy and practice—and he’s keen to bring that ethos to nEdEx. For Tim, success means creating a space where leaders feel supported, challenged, and inspired to lead with clarity and courage. He’s excited to contribute to a network that is inclusive, forward-thinking, and grounded in the realities of trust leadership.
